Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before you fly
You need an eVisa to enter Qatar. Apply through the Hukoomi portal — the official government eVisa platform. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, so apply at least a week before your flight.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your Ugandan passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Qatar. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Show proof of departure
Immigration officers in Doha routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone. A flexible ticket works if your plans change.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Qatar. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you're staying at a private residence. A booking.com PDF works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card showing you have enough funds for your stay. There's no fixed minimum, but around 500 QAR per day is a safe benchmark. A screenshot of your mobile banking app is usually accepted.Recommended
eVisa is mandatory — no visa on arrival
Ugandan passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Qatar. You must apply for and receive an eVisa before you fly. No exceptions.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Qatar, not from your departure date. If it's close to expiring, renew it first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the Hukoomi portal (the official Qatari government service). Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a scanned copy of your passport bio page and a passport-style photo. Pay the fee (around 100 QAR) by credit card. You'll receive a confirmation email within minutes.
2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 3–5 business days. Check your email (including spam) for the eVisa approval letter. Print a copy and save a PDF on your phone.
3
Arrive at Hamad International Airport (DOH)
When you land, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and join the queue for 'Visitors with eVisa'. Present your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer will scan your passport and stamp it. The whole process takes about 10–15 minutes if you have all documents ready.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, head to the baggage claim area. Then proceed through customs (green channel if you have nothing to declare). You're now free to enter Qatar.
