Ugandan passport holders need a visa to enter Chad. You must apply online before you travel — there's no visa on arrival at N'Djamena International Airport. This requirement has been in place since 2024.

Yellow fever vaccine required
You must show proof of yellow fever vaccination (yellow card) upon arrival. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport.
Cash is king in Chad
ATMs are scarce outside N'Djamena, and credit cards are rarely accepted. Bring enough CFA francs (XAF) in cash for your stay. You can exchange USD or EUR at banks and forex bureaus.

Apply for your e-Visa online
Go to e-visa.td, fill out the application form, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days. You'll receive the approved visa by email — print it out.

Pack your documents
Print your e-Visa approval, hotel booking confirmation, and flight itinerary. Keep them together with your passport in a folder you can grab quickly.

Arrive at N'Djamena International Airport
After landing, head to the immigration hall. Join the queue for foreign passports. Hand over your passport, printed e-Visa, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in — expect a brief look at your documents. No separate visa-on-arrival counter exists.

Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. Declare any large sums of cash (over 1 million XAF) or restricted goods. Then you're free to exit the arrivals hall.
