Uzbek passport holders need an eVisa to enter Bhutan. The application is online, and approval comes by email. As of 2026, this is the only way to get a tourist visa.

Apply for Bhutan eVisaVisa only through licensed Bhutanese tour operator.

Entry requirements

eVisa application
Bhutan e-Permit
Apply for the Bhutan e-Permit at bhutan.travel/e-permit before travel. This is a mandatory online visa application — you need a confirmed tour booking with a licensed Bhutanese tour operator first. Processing takes 5–7 working days, and you must pay the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of $100 USD per night as part of the application.Apply for e-PermitRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Bhutan. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Paro Airport ask for a confirmed return or onward flight ticket. Budget airlines flying into Bhutan also check this before issuing a boarding pass.Required
Proof of accommodation
Tour booking confirmation
Bhutan requires all tourists to book through a licensed tour operator who arranges hotels, guides, and transport. Your tour confirmation serves as proof of accommodation — carry a printed copy or have it on your phone.Required
Proof of funds
SDF payment receipt
The $100 USD per night Sustainable Development Fee is paid upfront during the e-Permit application. Keep the payment receipt — immigration may ask to see it on arrival.Required
eVisa is the only option
There is no visa on arrival for Uzbek passport holders. You must get the eVisa before you travel. No exceptions.
No extensions available
Your eVisa cannot be extended. Plan your trip carefully — if you overstay, you may be fined and could face issues with future visas.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Bhutan eVisa website (search 'Bhutan eVisa official'). Fill in your personal details, passport info, travel dates, and accommodation. Upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the visa fee (around $40 USD) by credit card. Processing takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive your eVisa approval
You'll get an email with your eVisa approval letter. Print it or save the PDF on your phone. This is your proof — no sticker in the passport.
3
Arrive at Paro International Airport
Paro is the only international airport in Bhutan. After landing, follow signs to immigration. Have your passport, eVisa approval, and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp you in — usually takes 2–3 minutes per person.
4
Enjoy your stay
Your eVisa is valid for the dates you specified. Don't overstay — extensions are not available for Uzbek passport holders. If you need to change your travel plans, contact the immigration office in Thimphu before your visa expires.
