Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Required for all Vietnamese passport holders
Apply for a DR Congo eVisa at visa.gouv.cd before you travel. The online form asks for a digital photo, passport scan, and travel itinerary. Processing takes 3–5 working days — do not book flights until you have the approval email.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Vietnamese passport needs at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps. DR Congo does not enforce a 6-month validity rule — your passport only needs to cover your stay. Airlines may still ask for 6 months, so check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at N'djili Airport in Kinshasa routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone. Without one, you risk being denied boarding or entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to have ready
Carry a hotel booking confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in DR Congo. Officers may ask where you are staying during the immigration interview. A printed copy works best.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to have ready
Have bank statements or a credit card showing access to at least $500 USD equivalent. Immigration may ask how you plan to support yourself during your stay. Cash in USD is widely accepted.Recommended
eVisa is mandatory — no visa on arrival
Vietnamese passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in DR Congo. You must apply and receive approval before your flight. Airlines will check this at check-in.
Health requirements
Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory. Malaria is present — take prophylaxis. Consider vaccinations for typhoid, hepatitis A, and meningitis. Carry your yellow card with your passport.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official DR Congo visa portal (visa.gouv.cd). Fill in your personal and travel details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee online. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get a PDF via email. Print a copy and save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Prepare your documents for departure
At the airport in Vietnam, the airline will check your eVisa, passport validity, and return ticket. Have them ready.
4
Arrive at N'djili Airport (FIH) in Kinshasa
After landing, follow signs to immigration. Present your passport, eVisa printout, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. The process usually takes 15–30 minutes.
5
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel. There's a customs check — declare any large amounts of cash or restricted items.
