Malaysia entry requirements for Vietnam passport holders
Vietnamese passport holders can enter Malaysia without a visa for stays up to 30 days. This covers tourism, business, and transit. As of 2026, no prior application is needed — just show up at the airport with your passport and a return ticket.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Valid passport Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay | Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity from your date of entry into Malaysia. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding. | Required |
| Return or onward ticket Proof of departure from Malaysia | Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket within 30 days. Budget airlines like AirAsia and Malindo check this before issuing a boarding pass — have a printed or digital copy ready. | Recommended |
| Proof of accommodation Hotel booking or host address | Carry a printed or digital hotel confirmation for your entire stay. If staying with friends, have their name, address, and phone number written down — immigration may ask for it. | Recommended |
| Proof of funds Sufficient cash or bank statement | Have at least 500 MYR (~$110 USD) in cash or a recent bank statement showing available funds. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, you need to show you can support yourself without working. | Recommended |
