eVisa is single-entry only
You cannot leave Japan and re-enter on the same eVisa. If you plan to visit South Korea or another country during your trip, you'll need a separate visa for re-entry.
Keep digital and paper copies
Save your eVisa PDF on your phone and print a paper copy. Immigration officers may ask to see it, and phone screens can fail. Also keep copies of your passport, flight bookings, and hotel confirmations.

Apply for eVisa online
Go to the official eVisa portal, fill in your details, upload your passport scan and photo, and pay the fee. Processing takes 3–7 business days. You'll receive an approval email with a PDF — print it and save it on your phone.

Pack your documents
Before you leave, gather: passport (valid 6+ months), eVisa approval PDF, return flight booking, first-night hotel confirmation, and travel insurance certificate. Keep digital copies on your phone and paper backups in your carry-on.

Arrive at Japanese immigration
At Narita, Haneda, Kansai, or any other airport, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport and eVisa PDF ready. The officer will scan your passport, check your visa, and may ask for your return ticket or hotel address. Answer clearly. You'll get a landing permission sticker in your passport.

Use Visit Japan Web (optional)
If you pre-registered on Visit Japan Web, show the QR code at immigration and customs. This skips the paper forms and speeds up the process. If not, you'll fill out a paper arrival card and customs declaration on the plane.
