No visa-on-arrival for South Africans
Ukraine does not offer visa-on-arrival for South African passport holders. You must have an approved e-Visa before you travel. Airlines will check this at check-in.
Keep digital copies of everything

Apply for the e-Visa online
Go to evisa.gov.ua/en/, fill in the application, upload your passport scan and a passport-style photo, and pay the fee. Processing takes up to 10 working days.

You'll receive the visa by email. Print a copy and save a PDF on your phone. Check all details — name, passport number, dates — are correct.

Have your passport, printed visa, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation in an easily accessible folder. Keep a digital backup on your phone.

Arrive at the airport in Ukraine
At Kyiv Boryspil or Lviv airport, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport and visa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly. You'll get a stamp and you're in.
