What happens at the border

Apply for the e-visa online
Go to the official Ukrainian e-visa portal (e-visa.mfa.gov.ua) and complete the application. You'll need to upload a digital photo, a passport scan, and pay the fee. Processing typically takes 5–9 business days, so apply at least 2 weeks before your trip.

Receive your e-visa by email
Once approved, you'll get a PDF e-visa attached to an email. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. Double-check that your name and passport number are spelled exactly as in your passport.

Arrive at the border
At any Ukrainian border crossing — Boryspil Airport (Kyiv), Lviv, Odesa, or land crossings from Poland, Romania, etc. — present your passport and e-visa to the officer. They'll scan it, check your details, and stamp your passport. The whole process usually takes a few minutes.

Register your stay (if applicable)
If you're staying in a hotel, they'll register you automatically. If you're in private accommodation, your host must register you with the migration service within 3 working days. This is a legal requirement, not optional.
