Passport validity is critical
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Turkey. If it expires sooner, your e-Visa will be rejected. Check your passport now, not the night before your flight.
e-Visa is the only option
Ethiopian passport holders cannot get a visa at the airport or border. You must apply online at evisa.gov.tr before you travel. No exceptions.

Apply for e-Visa online
Go to evisa.gov.tr, fill in your passport details, pay the fee (around $60 USD for Ethiopian citizens), and download the approved visa. It usually arrives in your email within 5 minutes.

Prepare your documents
Print or save on your phone: the e-Visa, passport, return ticket, and hotel booking. Keep them together in a folder or a clear photo album on your phone.

Arrive at Turkish immigration
At Istanbul Airport or any other entry point, join the foreign passport queue. Hand over your passport and e-Visa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel booking — have them ready.

Receive entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry. Your allowed stay is usually 30 days. Check the stamp before leaving the counter.
