Border officers have discretion

Arrive at UK border control
At airports like Heathrow, Gatwick, or Manchester, join the 'All Other Passports' queue. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer will ask about your trip purpose, length of stay, and where you're staying.

Present your documents
Hand over your passport. If asked, show your return ticket (on phone is fine) and accommodation details. Answer honestly and briefly.

Get your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry. Check the stamp before walking away. If you're given a shorter stay than 180 days, note the date.

Collect luggage and exit
After border control, collect your bags from the carousel and walk through customs (green channel if nothing to declare). You're now legally in the UK.
