Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply at the official Vietnam eVisa portal at evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn. The fee is $25 USD for single or multiple entry, valid for up to 90 days. Processing takes 3 working days — do not book flights until approved.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Greek passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Vietnam. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by Vietnam, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight itinerary ready — they will deny entry without it.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers rarely ask, but having it avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a bank statement showing at least $500 USD or equivalent in cash. Officers rarely check, but it is a formal requirement for entry.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Vietnam, not from your departure date. Double-check before you apply.
eVisa is not extendable
You cannot extend your eVisa while in Vietnam. If you need more time, plan to leave and re-enter with a new eVisa, or apply for a different visa type before your trip.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to the official Vietnam eVisa website (evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport data page. Pay the fee ($25 USD for single entry, $50 for multiple entry). Processing takes 3-5 working days.
2
Receive and print eVisa
Once approved, you'll get an eVisa PDF via email. Print a paper copy and save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at immigration.
3
Prepare documents for arrival
Have your passport, printed eVisa, return ticket, and first night hotel booking ready. Keep them in your hand luggage, not checked bags.
4
