Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Icelandic passport needs to be valid for the entire time you're in Singapore. No minimum validity period beyond your stay is required by Singapore immigration, but airlines may enforce a 6-month rule — check with your carrier before departure.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Singapore
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — they check this at the counter before you get to the gate.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Singapore. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient cash or bank statement
Have a bank statement or credit card showing you can cover your stay. No fixed amount is published, but around 200 SGD per day is a safe benchmark.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Singapore immigration will deny entry if your passport has less than 6 months validity from your date of entry. Airlines also check this before boarding. Renew early.
No arrival card needed
Unlike many other countries, Singapore does not require Icelandic passport holders to fill out an arrival card or online declaration. Just your passport and return ticket.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare documents before departure
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date). Book your return/onward ticket and first night accommodation. Save screenshots of both on your phone. Arrange travel insurance and a local SIM/eSIM if you want.
2
Arrive at Changi Airport
Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then 'Foreign Passports'. Join the queue for non-Singaporean passports. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
3
Present documents at immigration counter
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation. Answer clearly: purpose of visit (tourism, business meetings, transit), length of stay, where you're staying. You'll receive an entry stamp valid for up to 30 days.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. Green channel if nothing to declare, red channel if you have dutiable goods. That's it — you're in.
