Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in the UAE. Airlines check this at check-in, and immigration officers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi enforce it strictly.Required
Return or onward ticket
Outbound flight within 90 days
Immigration at Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports routinely asks for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready — they check this before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Officers may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a hotel reservation. A printed booking confirmation or a letter from your host with their Emirates ID number works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Border officers can ask for proof you can support yourself — a credit card or bank statement showing a few thousand dirhams is usually enough. I've never been asked, but it's good to have a screenshot handy.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check this before you board. If your passport expires within 6 months of your entry date, you won't be allowed to fly. Double-check before booking.
Keep a digital copy of everything
Save screenshots of your return ticket, hotel booking, and passport info page on your phone. UAE immigration rarely asks, but having them ready avoids stress.

What happens at the border

1
Arrival at UAE airport
Head to the immigration counters for foreign visitors. You'll join the standard queue — no special visa line needed. Have your passport and return ticket ready (screenshot is fine). The officer will stamp you in for up to 90 days.
2
Collect luggage and exit
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually nothing to declare for personal items. If you have a local SIM or eSIM, it activates automatically on landing.
