Tanzania entry requirements for Rwanda passport holders
Rwandan passport holders can enter Tanzania without a visa for stays up to 90 days. This visa-free arrangement has been in place since 2024 and applies to tourism, business, and transit visits.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Valid passport Must cover your entire stay in Tanzania | Your passport needs at least one blank page for the entry stamp. Tanzania does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date — just enough to cover your stay. Airlines may still enforce the 6-month rule, so check with your carrier before flying. | Required |
| Return or onward ticket Proof of departure from Tanzania | Immigration officers at Julius Nyerere and Kilimanjaro airports routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket. A flight booking out of Tanzania within 90 days of arrival works. Bus or ferry tickets to neighboring countries are also accepted. | Recommended |
| Proof of accommodation Hotel booking or host invitation | Officers may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel. A printed booking confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number covers this. Not always checked, but saves time if asked. | Recommended |
| Proof of funds Show you can support yourself during your stay | Tanzania does not publish a fixed minimum amount, but having cash (USD or TZS) or a bank statement showing at least $200–$300 for a short trip is a safe bet. ATMs are widely available in Arusha, Dar es Salaam, and Zanzibar. | Recommended |
