Slovak citizens can travel to Sri Lanka without a traditional visa. Instead, you'll need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) obtained online before departure. It's a quick process, valid for 30 days, and your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date.

Arrival declarationYou don't need to fill out any extra online form before arrival.
Not required
Sri Lanka does not require a separate arrival declaration for Slovak citizens. No additional form is needed beyond the ETA and standard immigration procedures. Not required
Apply for ETA early — don't rely on visa-on-arrival
Sri Lanka offers ETA on arrival at the airport, but it's slower, costs more, and can be denied if you don't have the right documents. The online ETA is the official, reliable route. Do it before you fly.
Use only the official ETA website
The only official site is https://eta.gov.lk/. Many third-party sites look official but charge inflated fees. Stick to the government portal.
Slovak citizens get a smooth entry
With a valid ETA and passport, you'll breeze through immigration at Colombo's Bandaranaike International Airport. No visa interviews, no paperwork beyond the ETA.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for ETA online
Go to https://eta.gov.lk/ and fill out the application. You'll need your passport details, flight info, and a valid email. Pay the fee (around $35–50 USD) with a credit/debit card. Approval usually comes within 24–72 hours, but apply at least a week before to be safe.
2
Check your approval email
You'll get an email with your ETA approval. Print it or save it on your phone. Double-check that your name and passport number match exactly — any typo means re-applying.
3
At the airport (departure)
When checking in for your flight, the airline will verify your ETA. Have it ready along with your passport. If you don't have it, they'll likely refuse boarding.
4
Arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB)
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration'. Join the queue for 'Foreign Passports'. Hand over your passport, ETA (printed or on phone), and boarding pass. The officer will stamp your passport with a 30-day stay. No fingerprinting for Slovak citizens, but you may be asked a question or two about your stay.
5
Exit and collect luggage
Once stamped, proceed to baggage claim and then customs. Green channel if you have nothing to declare. You're in!

Frequently asked questions

No traditional visa — you need an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization), which is essentially an online visa. Apply at https://eta.gov.lk/ before you fly. It's valid for 30 days from arrival.
The standard tourist ETA costs around $35–50 USD, depending on the processing speed you choose. The official site is https://eta.gov.lk/ — avoid third-party sites that charge extra.
Usually 24–72 hours. Apply at least a week before your flight to avoid stress. If you're in a rush, there's an expedited option for a higher fee.
No, the ETA is not extendable. If you overstay, you'll face fines and possible trouble at immigration. Plan your trip within 30 days or leave and re-enter (though that's not guaranteed).
Rejections are rare for Slovak citizens, but if it happens, you'll get an email. You can re-apply or contact the Sri Lanka ETA support. Don't book non-refundable flights until you have approval.
Only if you're arriving from a yellow fever endemic country. Slovakia isn't one, so you don't need it. But check the latest health advice for Sri Lanka — dengue is a risk, so bring mosquito repellent.
No — your Slovak passport is what matters. The ETA is tied to your passport, not any other visa. You still need the ETA.
