IMUGA saves time
Completing the IMUGA form online before you fly means you'll breeze through immigration. Without it, you'll be directed to a manual processing desk, which can take 20-30 minutes longer.
No visa on arrival for overstays
If you overstay your 30-day visa, you'll be fined 50 MVR per day (about 3.25 USD). Overstays of more than 90 days can lead to deportation and a ban. Apply for an extension before your visa expires.

Go to imuga.immigration.gov.mv and fill in your travel details, passport info, and accommodation. Do this within 96 hours of your flight. You'll get a QR code — save it on your phone.

Arrive at Malé International Airport
After landing, follow signs to immigration. There are separate queues for visa-on-arrival and pre-arranged visas. Join the visa-on-arrival line.

Present documents at the counter
Hand over your passport, show your IMUGA QR code (on phone or printed), and your return ticket. The officer will stamp your passport with a 30-day visa. No fee.

Collect luggage and exit
After the stamp, head to baggage claim, then customs. You're free to go.
