Check-Mig is mandatory — do it 1-24 hours before your flight
The Check-Mig form is free and must be completed online at migracioncolombia.gov.co. Do it too early (more than 24 hours before) and it won't be valid. Do it at the airport and you risk delays. Set a reminder.

What happens at the border

Complete Check-Mig online
Go to migracioncolombia.gov.co and fill out the Check-Mig form. Do this between 1 and 24 hours before your flight. You'll need your flight details, passport info, and accommodation address. Save the confirmation page as a PDF or screenshot.

Arrive at Colombian airport
At Bogotá (El Dorado), Medellín, or Cartagena airport, follow signs to 'Migración' or 'Extranjeros'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport, Check-Mig confirmation, and return ticket ready.

Present documents to immigration officer
Hand over your passport and the Check-Mig confirmation. The officer may ask your purpose of visit, how long you're staying, and where you're staying. Answer honestly. They'll stamp your passport with up to 90 days.

Collect luggage and exit
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. You're free to enter Colombia.
