What happens at the border

1
Apply for a visa online
Go to the Taiwan Bureau of Consular Affairs visa application portal (visawebapp.boca.gov.tw). Create an account, fill in your details, upload a passport-style photo and a copy of your passport data page. Pay the visa fee (around TWD 1,600–3,200 depending on visa type) by credit card. Submit and wait for processing — typically 5–10 business days.
2
Receive your visa
Once approved, you'll receive a visa sticker or an e-visa document via email. Print it out and keep it with your passport. Some nationalities get a sticker placed in their passport at a Taiwanese embassy or consulate — check your approval email for instructions.
3
Prepare for arrival
Before you fly, print or save to your phone: your visa approval, return ticket, first night accommodation booking, and travel insurance details. Have your passport ready with at least one blank page.
4
Arrive at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE)
Follow signs to 'Foreign Nationals' immigration. Present your passport, visa, and completed arrival card (you'll get it on the plane). The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation — have them ready. They'll stamp your passport and you're in.
