What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before you fly
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry). Book a return or onward flight. Save your hotel booking and TDAC confirmation on your phone. Arrange travel insurance and a local SIM if you want.
2
Arrive at a Thai airport
You'll land at Suvarnabhumi (BKK), Don Mueang (DMK), Phuket (HKT), or another international airport. Follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Passport Control'.
3
Queue at immigration
Join the 'Foreign Passport' queue. Have your passport, boarding pass, and any requested documents ready. The officer will stamp you in for 60 days. This usually takes 5–15 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. If you completed TDAC, you may have a faster lane. Otherwise, just walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel if you have no restricted items.

Frequently asked questions

No, the visa-free entry for Cyprus passport holders is not extendable. You must leave Thailand within 60 days. If you want to stay longer, you can apply for a tourist visa (e.g., 60-day single entry) before travel, or do a border run (leave and re-enter) to get a new 60-day stamp. Overstaying costs 500 THB per day and can lead to a ban.
Yes, any onward ticket out of Thailand within 60 days works. It doesn't have to be a return to Cyprus — a flight to Vietnam, Malaysia, or anywhere else is fine. Just make sure it's confirmed and you have the booking reference handy.
You will likely be denied boarding by the airline or refused entry by Thai immigration. The 6-month rule is strictly enforced. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before you travel. No exceptions.
No, it's optional. But completing it online before you fly (free at tdac.immigration.go.th) can save you time at the immigration queue. Many travellers find it speeds things up, especially at busy airports like Suvarnabhumi.
Not required for visa-free entry, but strongly recommended. Medical costs in Thailand can be high — a hospital stay for a minor accident can cost hundreds of euros per day. A basic travel insurance policy covering medical and evacuation is cheap peace of mind.
No. The visa-free entry is for tourism, short business visits (meetings, conferences), or transit. You cannot work or study. For work, you need a work permit and appropriate visa. For study, you need a student visa (Non-ED).
Overstay is fined at 500 THB per day (about €13). If you overstay by more than 90 days, you may be banned from re-entering Thailand for 1 year. Always leave on time or apply for a visa extension before your stamp expires.
