Passport Validity is Critical
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date. If it's even one day short, your eVisa will be denied. Check your passport now, not the week before your trip.
eVisa Only for Air Travel
The Indian eVisa is only valid for entry by air or sea. You cannot use it to enter India via a land border (e.g., from Nepal or Pakistan). If you plan to arrive overland, you need a regular visa from an Indian embassy.

Apply for eVisa Online
Go to the official Indian eVisa website (indianvisaonline.gov.in). Fill out the application, upload a passport-style photo and your passport data page. Pay the fee (around $25–$80 depending on duration). You'll get a confirmation email within 72 hours.

Prepare Your Documents
Print your eVisa approval, save your return ticket and hotel booking on your phone, and pack your passport. Double-check your passport has 6+ months validity from your arrival date.

Arrive at Indian Immigration
At the airport, join the 'eVisa' queue (not the regular visa queue). Hand over your passport and eVisa printout. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. They'll stamp your passport with your entry date.

Collect Your Baggage and Exit
After immigration, collect your luggage from the carousel. You'll pass through customs (green channel if nothing to declare). Then you're free to exit the airport.
