Icelandic passport holders can get a visa on arrival in Cambodia. This is the standard way to enter for tourism, valid for up to 30 days. As of 2026, the process is straightforward at all international airports and major land borders.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply online at evisa.gov.kh. The eVisa costs $30 USD, is valid for 90 days, and allows a single entry for up to 30 days. Processing takes 3 working days — do not wait until the last minute.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6 months validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of entry. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers routinely ask for a flight out of Cambodia within your visa validity. Have a printed or digital copy of your onward ticket ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host address
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers rarely ask, but having it avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Have at least $500 USD in cash or a bank statement showing sufficient funds. Immigration may ask to see it, especially if you arrive without a return ticket.Recommended
Cash only — no cards accepted
The visa on arrival fee is $30 USD, cash only. No credit or debit cards. Bring exact change if possible. ATMs at the airport dispense USD but charge high fees and give poor exchange rates.
Visa on arrival vs e-Visa
You can also apply for an e-Visa online before you travel ($36, 3 business days processing). It saves time at the airport — you skip the visa counter and go straight to passport control. But the visa on arrival is cheaper and works fine if you have cash and a photo.

What happens at the border

1
Land at Phnom Penh or Siem Reap airport
After deplaning, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'Immigration'. At Phnom Penh, the counter is just before passport control. At Siem Reap, it's in the arrivals hall. Don't join the main passport queue yet.
2
Fill out the visa application form
Grab a form from the counter. Fill in your details: full name, passport number, date of birth, nationality, occupation, and your first night's hotel address in Cambodia. Use block capitals. Keep your passport and photo handy.
3
Submit documents and pay the fee
Hand over your passport, the completed form, one passport photo, and $30 USD. The officer will process it. This usually takes 5–10 minutes. They'll give you a receipt and tell you to wait.
4
Collect your passport with visa
When your name is called, collect your passport. Check the visa sticker: your name, passport number, and validity dates should be correct. The visa is usually valid for 30 days from the date of issue.
5
Proceed to passport control
Now join the main passport control queue. Present your passport with the visa sticker. The officer may ask your purpose of visit and how long you're staying. Answer briefly. You'll get an entry stamp and you're in.
