Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa required
Apply before travel
Tanzanian passport holders need a visa to enter Israel. Apply at the nearest Israeli embassy or consulate before departure — there is no visa on arrival or eVisa option for TZ passports. Processing takes 5–10 working days, and you must submit a completed application form, passport photos, and supporting documents.Apply for visaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least the duration of your stay in Israel. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires before you leave, you will be denied boarding. No 6-month validity rule applies for Israel.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Israeli immigration officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready. Airlines also check this before issuing a boarding pass.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended
Immigration may ask where you are staying. Have a hotel booking confirmation or a letter of invitation from a host ready. A printed copy or a screenshot on your phone works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended
Carry evidence of sufficient funds for your stay — a bank statement or credit card statement showing recent transactions. Israeli border officers rarely ask, but having it avoids delays.Recommended
Apply early — no visa on arrival
Tanzanian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Israel. Apply online at least 3 weeks before your trip. Processing can take up to 14 days, and delays happen.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your visa approval, passport bio page, hotel booking, and return ticket as PDFs on your phone and in cloud storage. Immigration may ask to see any of these, and airport Wi-Fi is not always reliable.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the visa online
Go to israel-entry.piba.gov.il and fill out the application. Upload a digital passport photo, a copy of your passport bio page, and your flight itinerary. Pay the fee (around 100–150 ILS, roughly $30–$40 USD). Processing usually takes 7–14 days.
2
Wait for approval
Check your email and spam folder for the visa approval. Once approved, print the approval letter or save a PDF on your phone. Do not book non-refundable flights until you have this.
3
Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport (TLV)
At passport control, hand over your passport and visa approval. The officer may ask about your accommodation, return ticket, and purpose of visit. Answer clearly and briefly. They may also ask to see your hotel booking and onward ticket.
4
Receive entry stamp
If everything is in order, you will get an entry stamp. The maximum stay is determined by the officer — typically up to 90 days for tourist visas. Confirm the allowed stay before leaving the counter.
